History of the Carl William Eisendrath Distinguished Service Professorship

The Carl William Eisendrath Distinguished Service Professorship is the only named professorship dedicated exclusively to the Department of Chemistry. It was established in 1931 by Mr. and Mrs. William N. Eisendrath in memory of their son, Carl William, a young Chicago industrialist who graduated from The University of Chicago with honors in chemistry in 1903. Carl William was one of Julian Stieglitz's pupils, who stimulated his interest in chemistry. He died in 1910.

Professor Sibener is the seventh member of the Department of Chemistry to hold the Eisendrath Professorship:
